Submit your abstract to participate in the Annual Student Poster Competition. Johnson C. Smith University students from all academic fields are invited to submit an abstract for consideration. The deadline to submit your abstract is March 11th at 12:00 Noon in order to compete during this year’s Student Poster Competition during Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) Week in April.
First, second, and third place winners will be selected in categories and winners will receive awards of $500, $250, and $100, respectively. The four categories are: social sciences, humanities, visual and performing arts, and STEM.
Students will present their research projects to faculty, staff and other conference participants in poster format. The poster session, students will have designed a visual poster representing their research and will be presenting their work to individual conference participants over a 2-hour session.
Through this conference, Smith Institute is encouraging student engagement in research activities and at academic conference. It supports JCSU’s mission to produce graduates who communicate effectively, think critically, learn independently as well as collaboratively, and demonstrate competence in their chosen fields.
Participating in research prepares students for graduate study and professional careers. Presenting your work during the Student Poster Competition further enhances your experience. Students selected to present at the event will be individually recognized for his/her contribution to university academic achievement.
The Student Poster Competition is organized by a campus-wide committee and convened by the Smith Institute for Applied Research. The Smith Institute encourages curiosity and collaboration and celebrates research achievements that impact the JCSU community by organizing, facilitating, and promoting programs for JCSU students, faculty, staff, and community members to support productive engagement in research activities and enhance the research culture at Johnson C. Smith University.
