Smith Institute would like to congratulate Dr. Rhonda Bibbs, Assistant Professor in Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and former Smith Institute Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CURE) Fellow on her acceptance to the Office of Sponsored Programs’ Grant Development Institute (GDI)!
During the course of the CURE Fellowship, Dr. Bibbs reimagined her course(s) to include a research project. In the year to come, Dr. Bibbs plans to incorporate the lessons learned during the Fellowship into her courses.
This semester, Dr. Bibbs was selected to expand her scholarship as part of the GDI, during which she will learn more about the process of securing funding through mentorships, collaborations, and strengthening proposal concepts. Dr. Bibbs is also joined by Belinda Dunn, Jaclyn O’Tool, Gary Guffey, and Judith Crocker-Billingsly in the GDI Cohort.
Participants in the GDI commit to attending workshops over the course of one year, resulting in grant submissions with improved quality. The Office of Sponsored Programs facilitates the GDI under the division of Government Sponsored Programs as one of is one of the signature professional development opportunities for faculty.
Government Sponsored Programs at JCSU endeavors to prepare faculty and students with research experiences through Smith Institute for Applied Research, preparation and support for managing grants through the Office of Sponsored Programs, and grants administration support through the Office of Title III.
