Statistics Bootcamp for Students

Held virtually, the Increasing Statistical Preparation for Underrepresented Undergraduates program will take place from June 7, 2021 – July 30, 2021. The program will accept female students from underrepresented groups, and from all disciplines (preference given to first year students) who have a GPA of at least 3.0. Selected students will receive a $4000 stipend.  The deadline to submit an application is rolling. If selected, please share that good news with Dr. Tara Bengle, tsbengle@jcsu.edu so that we can feature you on the website.

Participants will complete a Statistics Bootcamp as well as work closely with a faculty member and peer mentor on an independent research project using freely available Big Data sets. Participants will learn statistics that are most appropriate to their research question, which could include advanced topics.

The program is open to all disciplines. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis from January 15, 2021 until March 15, 2021.

The training program also includes panel discussions and professional development activities. Students will receive a $4000 stipend.

Additional details of the program as well as the application form are available on our website. https://sites.spelman.edu/inspireu2-reu
