The CIAA is providing a scholarship for students through the CIAA Essay Contest! Last year, JCSU student Adrien Simmons won the contest and was awarded a $5,000 scholarship. To enter, submit a 700-800 word essay (save files as LastName_FirstName_CIAAEssay) to firstname.lastname@example.org, by February 15, 2020 on the following topic: The CIAA has been supporting basketball for 75 years to serve students of its member institutions. Smith Institute for Applied Research announces the MACMAS Lab Open Hours. The Multidisciplinary Applied Computational Modeling and Simulations Lab will be available for students, faculty, and staff to use on a first-come, first-served basis without reservation on Tuesdays from 9:30am-12pm and Wednesdays from 1:30pm-4:30pm in Yancey Hall 114. College Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors are encouraged to apply for the American Heart Association EmPOWERED to Serve Scholars Program by January 20, 2020. The program is geared towards college students who are actively addressing social determinants of health such as food insecurity, safe housing, job opportunities and access to health care. (more…)
Applications are due February 1, 2020 for the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. Presented by Davidson University, UNC Charlotte, and Johnson C. Smith University, the Beatties Ford Road experience provides undergraduate students with an opportunity to conduct community-engaged research in Charlotte from June 14 to August 8, 2020. The REU is aimed at addressing inequalities in food, housing, and health through a grant provided by the National Science Foundation. (more…)
