Tanya Green, lead researcher for the Parent Involvement and Fatherhood Initiative sent this update on the Smith Institute STAR Grant project.
The State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium (SNCURCS) will be held November 14, 2015 at High Point University.
The JCSU 2015 Research Symposium and Showcase will take place November 5th and 6th in the new Science Center. The symposium will explore two themes: Thursday’s event will focus discussions on the Black Male, and Friday’s topic is Metacognition and Educational Success.
Johnson C. Smith University’s student-edited Undergraduate Research Journal is a compilation of senior investigative papers that were selected by committee. The 16th edition tackles topics selected and researched by students, from business case analysis, to the exploration of self-identities, to a deconstruction of the use of language in a Shakespearian piece. Smith Institute implemented the STAR (Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and Applied Research) Grant Program this past year. Applications that fit the aims of the program are accepted on a rolling basis. We are also in the process of developing an internal grant program where students may apply for funding for a student-led, faculty mentored research project. (more…)
