This year, the Smith Institute for Applied Research will be introduced the University’s FIRST EVER Student Research Ambassadors Program! As a part of our efforts to continue to enhance and promote a comprehensive culture of research at JCSU, it has become increasingly important to provide JCSU students with opportunities to not only develop their skills in basic and applied research, but to provide a platform that will allow students to engage, educate, and encourage their peers to bring awareness to the importance of undergraduate research skill development. The State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium (SNCURCS) will be held November 14, 2015 at High Point University.
The 30th Anniversary National Conference on Undergraduate Research will be held at the University of North Carolina at Asheville on April 7-9, 2016. (more…)

JCSU Student Researchers! The Smith Institute for Applied Research requests submissions for the Fall 2015 Research Showcase to be held November 5-6, 2015 at Johnson C. Smith University. JCSU students engaged in research may submit proposals to have a poster highlighting their research included in the showcase. Posters will be displayed during the Research Showcase at lunch in Grimes Lounge both days, and selected poster presenters must be present to answer questions about their research for attendees.
The JCSU 2015 Research Symposium and Showcase will take place November 5th and 6th in the new Science Center. The symposium will explore two themes: Thursday’s event will focus discussions on the Black Male, and Friday’s topic is Metacognition and Educational Success.
