What is Smith Institute for Applied Research?

Smith Institute encourages curiosity and collaboration and celebrates research achievements that impact the JCSU community by organizing, facilitating, and promoting programs for JCSU students, faculty, staff, and community members to support productive engagement in research activities and enhance the research culture at Johnson C. Smith University.

How is Smith Institute funded?

The contents of this Smith Institute for Applied Research publication were developed under the Title III Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act (SAFRA), Award Number P031B150062, from the Department of Education. However, the contents do not necessarily represent the policy of the Department of Education, and you should not assume endorsement by the Federal Government.

Is Johnson C. Smith University accredited?

Johnson C. Smith University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate and master’s degrees. Questions about the accreditation of Johnson C. I’m a student- how can I get involved?

Smith Institute announces its workshops, training, and other events via YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and JCSU News. You also have access to various research tools with your JCSU e-mail address such as Qualtrics, CUR membership, CITI training, Student Opportunity Center, and more!

I’m a JCSU faculty member- how can I get involved?

Faculty: Help your student researchers! E-mail smithinstitute@jcsu.edu to gain access to the Smith Institute Virtual Office on Canvas to find classroom templates, videos to access research tools, and much more! For more details, check out our description of the Smith Institute Virtual Office.
